It wasn't that pirates were disloyal. On the contrary, they were all wholly and faithfully loyal… to their own interests. That was all right; it made them predictable, and predictable people are easily manipulated. As long as she kept abreast of what those interests were, she'd succeed. The challenge made her feel alive. Her father had always sworn his loyalty to King and Country, and what had that earned him? An ignominious murder.
These were hard lessons to learn, but learn them she did, and she held her power proudly and bravely, standing astride her underworld like a true queen.
