The boss would sometimes asked me what I was thinking about, and part of me always wanted to snark back with "You own my time, not my thoughts," but that would've been uncalled for. He didn't mean any harm.
Also, when you answer stuff like "the Defenestration of Prague" or "I wonder if I have enough of that fabric to make a skirt," they stop asking.
