He accepts Elizabeth's offer, he LOCKS THE GODDAMNED CELL DOOR so that Bootstrap doesn't get out, or he takes the Dutchman's offer and serves on the ship. 3. Wash doesn't die in "Serenity." 4. Wesley at least has a little bit of warm-fuzzy relationship time with Fred before she turns into Illyria in "Angel." 5. Giles finds some other reason to leave Sunnydale in Season 6 of Buffy. The whole "O HAI YOU JUST GOT YANKED OUT OF HEAVEN AND ARE HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH IT SO I'LL TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO LEAVE SO THAT YOU CAN LEARN TO STAND ON YOUR OWN" thing never quite jived with me.
